Machines & Seats
import { Steps } from ‘@astrojs/starlight/components’;
A seat is one active machine installation of UltiVoice. Your license tier determines how many machines can be active simultaneously. When you reach the seat limit, activating a new machine requires deactivating an existing one first.
How seats work
Section titled “How seats work”- Each activation binds a seat to a specific machine hardware fingerprint (HWID).
- Seats are tracked in real time by the License Authority.
- Rebuilding Windows on the same machine (same hardware) reuses the same HWID — it counts as the same seat.
- Replacing the motherboard or moving to a different physical machine counts as a new seat.
View active machines
Section titled “View active machines”- Sign in at account.ultivoice.com.
- Go to Licenses → Your license → Machines.
- The list shows each activated machine with: machine name, operating system, activation date, and last-seen date.
Deactivate a machine
Section titled “Deactivate a machine”Deactivating frees that seat so you can activate on a different machine.
- In the Machines list, find the machine to deactivate.
- Click Deactivate next to it.
- Confirm the action. The seat is released immediately.
After remote deactivation, if UltiVoice is still installed on the old machine it will show License inactive on next launch and require a new activation code.
Transfer to a new machine
Section titled “Transfer to a new machine”To move UltiVoice to a new PC:
- (Optional but recommended) Deactivate the old machine from the portal or from Settings → License → Deactivate this machine on the old machine.
- Install UltiVoice on the new machine — see Installation.
- Follow the Activation guide to activate on the new machine.
If you skip step 1, the old machine remains counted as a seat until you deactivate it manually. If you are at the seat limit, you must deactivate the old machine before the new one can be activated.
Seat limits by plan
Section titled “Seat limits by plan”| Plan | Active machines |

| Starter | 1 |
| Standard | 2 |
| Professional | 3 |
Check the pricing page for current plan details.
Frequently asked questions
Section titled “Frequently asked questions”Does reinstalling Windows consume a new seat?
No. As long as the hardware (especially the motherboard) is the same, the HWID matches and re-activation reuses the same seat.
My old machine died — can I still free the seat?
Yes. Deactivate it remotely from the Machines list in the account portal. No action is needed on the dead machine.
Can I activate on a virtual machine?
VMs are supported but each VM instance generates its own HWID and counts as a separate seat.
